Testimonials:

I have been on several day trip excursions with Briant, with work colleagues, friends and family members of all ages (from 6 up to 82 years old). On each tour we have enjoyed seeing the natural habitat of Panama's wildlife, and learned a great deal from Briant because of his extensive knowledge and interest in botany+zoology. If you're looking for a guide who is professional, courteous and friendly, I can not think of anyone better qualified in Panama City.

Tour Description

details cave tour availability Cave Exploration: Bayano Lake

We start with a scenic drive from Panama City to a small indigenous community on the shores of Lake Bayano. Here we board a small boat and navigate to the entrance of the caves. This lake is quite big and the landscape is dramatic.

Once inside the caves the real adventure begins, you will immediately feel the adrenaline pumping through your veins as you walk deep into this underground river and start appreciating the most spectacular rock formations created by the hand of time.

After a couple of hours of heart pumping fun, we'll break for lunch and relax in an open area surrounded by huge stone walls, gorgeous forest and a lagoon, where everyone is invited for a swim.

skill levelSkill Level: Moderate

Most of the tour consists of walking with flashlights up and down in an underground river with uneven terrain made out of sand and rocks, with some parts that can be a little slippery. Depending on weather conditions, there are some small pools inside the caves that we have to cross and can be up to 5 feet deep.
